This is the joy I'm talking about.
This is the joy I'm talking about.

Today my planned activity was slime! When I showed the kids at the centre that we were doing this activity they were so excited. I bough glitter glue and was excited to show them how to do it. It was more of an experiment than something I knew could be successful. I was really kind of worried that it wouldn’t turn out. THEN, I realized that they actually don’t care. They were having so much fun just stirring glue that it didn’t really matter that it wasn’t working.

I keep learning new limits and boundaries with the kids and today I learned that they just need to be moving and that is an activity. They have very low expectations of me and I hope to raise the bar for the next interns, but the goal is to keep them moving and keep them introduced into something new.

I realized this week how fulfilling it is to introduce something to someone. I introduced Carmella to Papa’s Cupcakeria and I introduced Primavera to slime.

"It is so rejuvenating to find joy in these things."
