This week i worked alongside Mikaela in Ariel for the whole week. Monday and Tuesday was a regular day playing lots of games and hanging out. Giovanna, Carmela, and I played buracco.

On Wednesday, Raffaele came to Casa Famiglia with a group of grad students and professors from the states. This was genuinely so much fun. I had planned an activity and bought supplies and it was so much better than I could have imagined. When everyone first arrived, they introduced themselves in italian/english and then we started making slime. Again, it didn’t really work, but everyone was just having fun stirring the glue, so it is what it is.

Then I wrote on a poster board “amicizia tra nationi” and on another “friendship across countries.” The kids got to stamp their hand in paint on the posterboard and then the students from the US got to take a poster home with them. This part was so incredibly heart warming and then we all took a picture together. I even got Asca- from primavera- to come down and do slime with us. It was so so fun.

After we were all cleaned up from the activities, everyone just hung around and played games. Lots of uno was distributed and I was translating from the kids to the adults which was kind of insane that after these two months I was able to roughly translate italian to english.

Wednesday was a highlight for sure. Thursday I met the kids at the beach and helped with getting everyone ready to go home. I also just sat and talked with Asca for a bit. Getting to know her has been an incredible time. I feel like we are friends. Wonderful week!
