In the first part of Friday, I was working on planning activities for next week. I was on the computer for about an hour or so and then had the pleasure of eating lunch with the kids in Primavera. These are older kids and had been to a concert the night before. They were telling me all about it and it was so fun talking in english and them teaching me words in Italian.
I was also learfning about an Italian artist called Elodie. They showed me her music and the videos from the concert and it was nice that they wanted to share.
I can’t explain to anyone how homey it feels to have such an honest conversation in a mix of italian and english. It really does make me feel so incredibly high off of connection.
I’ve had this pyramid of connection in my head all of my life based on the people I meet. It demonstrates the level of connection, from how much you will share with them to how easy it feels. The relationship that forms cross-culturally, specifically with these kids, has created something so unique. I don’t think I can even fit it on my pyramid. Incredible.

After lunch, I went on a walk with Sister Juve and big Alessio. We walked pretty far and for about an hour. It was honestly tiring, but she said he goes on them everyday in the summer b because he gets really bored and stir crazy in the house. Naturally, I get it, as I would go crazy too.

When we were back from the walk, I went down to Arielle to do the planned movie night! I brought popcorn and chocolate and sprinkles to do a little make-your-own popcorn situation. We then watched Mulan, in italian. What an experience. I was giggling hearing the songs, I know so well in English, in Italian. The kids loved the movie and it felt safe to me. I think i am slowly gaining more of their trust and am honored.
